Axe FX III running 4CM into a Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+. Switching between 2 scenes, one with the amp's preamp section and a little delay/verb, the other is straight Axe FX USA C+ Deep model, through same delay/verb, into the power section of the amp and cab. The scene switch is changing only the selection of the internal/external preamp section in the patch. Mindless noodling ensues. Mostly trying to get a sense of the difference in feel. I think if I spent some more time I could get it too close to call.
Yellow channel, shred mode , 2 york audio Irs ( same) almost same settings , sliders eq OFF in the real amp and then no mark type slider in the axe . which one is the real amp ? axe fx 3 is in 16.02 (cygnus) I like these mini games between 2 presets, I have done a lot of axe fx packs , check them here , thank you ! 🤍
I find these kind of things kind of fun to set up and a good way to see how close or not the Axe FX/FM9 can get to the real thing, especially when the real thing weighs 37kg... The Mesa Lonestar is loaded down with a Fractal X Load, and then is in a loop of the Fractal FM9 (at the time of making this video, the amp blocks of each device are at parity, so this experiment should sound identical whether using Fm3, Axe FX3 or FM9), with the same Cab/Reverb for both Device A and B. Let me know if you can tell which is which? 🤍 - you can grab my presets here if you want for FM3 and Axe FX 3. 🤍 get my backing tracks here

Are you looking to buy a Fractal Audio Axe FX product? Well you won't have any problem finding an Axe FX review or an Axe FX demo online. Almost every one of those will cover or compare how the Axe FX does when modeling your favorite amps. But the Axe FX is an amp unto itself. Actually the AXE FX 3 is 17 amps unto itself. If all you ever did was use the Axe FX 3 for it's own FAS amps, it might well be worth the price. Today, I'll examine a few of those Axe FX 3 amps both in a mix and solo. Here's my quick comparison video between Line 6 HX Stomp, Fractal Axe-FX II and a real vintage Marshall JMP tube amp from 1979. Can modelers hold against this iconic amp? All clips are played with Gibson Les Paul Signature (BKP Riff Raff-pickup) Amp settings are identical, no post production or post EQ. I'm using the same Two Notes IR for all clips. Music is made by me.
Disclaimer: take this comparison with a grain of salt! This can only be a rough guide to give you an idea about how accurate the rectifier amp+cab models are on each of these units, it's not about "better" or "worse". Also bear in mind that the POD and Axe FX in this video are not the latest models! Setup: I used a 2ch Mesa Rectifier through the matching cab, miked with a single sm57. I then used the model of the same amp, cab and mic from each of the modelling amps. I started from the same settings but tweaked them (bass, middle, treble, presence) to get as close as possible to the sound of the real amp. The rectifier is a bright amp with a lot of presence sizzle going on, the POD and Axe FX Standard are rather dark and muffled sounding, so in order to get the same kind of high end sizzle I had to raise the presence and treble, Those dials don't act exactly like the pots on the real amp though, so raising the presence also raises a lot of fizz that's not as prominent in the real amp. So the question was "do I try to make each unit sound as good as possible, or do I try to make it sound as accurate to the real amp as possible"? I went with the latter, so the result might not necessarily be the best possible sound from the unit, so don't fall into that "better-worse-trap", this comparison was really just done to see how close the units get to the real amp and cab without using any post processing. Also bear in mind that the Axe FX II is much brighter and more open sounding, so that dark/muffled quality of the AFX Standard won't be as much a problem with the AFXII anymore. I'd expect the new version of the axe FXII and also of the POD to sound much closer to the real amp than these older versions.... So take this comparison with a grain of salt, use it for what it was intended and don't get butthurt over it. :)

Hey guys, here I demo the Marshall jvm410 and the ability of the Fractal Audio Axe-Fx3 to mimick it. For this comparison, the JVM410 was first set to where it sounded good to my ears and then the axe-fx3 was tweaked by ear to sound as to close to the marshall as possible. The goal of this video is for you to focus on the differences between sounds rather than on the sound itself. Here are the amp models used to match the jvm. clean - Brit JVM OD1 green mid gain - Brit JVM OD1 orange high gain - Brit JVM OD2 orange For consistency, all clips were reamped and I used the same Impulse Response for both amps. All clips have been EQ-matched gain-matched and volume-matched as close as I could get it (all within the amp block of the Axe-fx only, no other block or external plugin was used). No post-processing of any kind was added to these tracks, it's all raw from the amps. When boosting, the boost pedal used was a tube screamer emulation plugin directly added to the DIs prior to reamping and with identical settings for both amps. Guitar used for the DIs: Ibanez RG721RW If you read it all until here, you're officially awesome ! Clean 0:09 Mid gain unboosted 0:41 Mid gain boosted 1:28 High gain unboosted 2:17 High gain boosted 3:00 solo 3:44

The second round of my head to head shootout between the Axe-Fx II's Band Commander model based on a 1968 Fender Drip Edge Bandmaster Reverb and a real 1972 Fender Bandmaster Reverb TFL5005D. The Axe is running into a Matrix GT800FX power amp and then both end up in a 1x12 speaker cab with a WGS ET-65 with a Shure SM57 mic. For this round I tuned the amps by ear for a short time before starting the demo and tweaked the EQ settings to try and match them as close as possible. My 1972 Bandmaster Reverb is a little brighter, and so I took some slight steps to even things out between the two. We invited Grammy-award winning producer/guitarist LARRY MITCHELL to dial in some tube amps during a studio session. By simply matching the knobs of the models to the knobs of the amps, we demonstrate how accurate the models are, and how easy it is to achieve a great tone with the Axe-Fx II or AX8. Larry toggles between both systems using a footswitch, and then demos the model over some backing tracks. You can enjoy the same tones by downloading the files below for your Axe-Fx II or AX8 running firmware Quantum 6 or newer. Learn more about Larry Mitchell at his web site: 🤍

So prior to this, I think the Strymon Iridium, with it's 500ms IR loading was the longest IRs in the modelling world. Now Cliff at Fractal has added the capability in the Axe FX 3 to run IRs that are 1.3 seconds in length, and he suggests this could be the next step in that Amp in the Room feel that many folks are interested in. I have recently bought a Fractal Audio AXE FX 3, For my own sanity I wanted to see how much better the Axe FX is to the Kemper Profiler. In this video, I compare the Axe fx 3 to its older counterpart the Kemper Profiler. The Studio Rats are core band members Paul Drew on guitar/production/mixing, drummer James Ivey and Dan Hawkins on bass. They collaborate with singers and musicians to produce radio-ready songs.

I recently got the AXE-FX III and also purchased a Crown XLS 1002 Power Amplifier to put it through. The cabinet I'm using is a Seismic Audio empty 2x12 cabinet. I am using 2 WSG Veteran 30 speakers in it. This video is just a few quick examples of some settings you can use that will improve the tone of the Axefx through a guitar cab. You may notice as I did that if you use the stock settings in the Axe, which sound awesome for direct recording, it might sound somewhat muted though a power amp/guitar cabinet. It seems to often have a "blanket over the cabinet" sound. These few adjustments will make it sound brighter and clearer without making it overly brittle. Please let me know in the comments if this video is helpful and please leave any tips you may have!
Here's the original #2 blind test video: 🤍 This is the follow-up video to that blind test. We discuss the results to that blind test and I also walk you through the settings of the real Marshall JCM 800 Studio SC20H amp and the settings on the Helix, Axe Fx and Kemper! There are a bunch of video on Youtube , showing how all of those samplers sound in a direct recording , but we made a video to show you how those stuff sound in a real cabinet , just to help you decide if you can completely erase the tube amps from your life. Leave a comment when you see the video , and tell us your opinion. The song at the beginning is called Punishing Ghosts from the Greek band DreamBleed .
