OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) displays have a lot of advantages over LCD and traditional LED displays. Today we will learn how to use OLED displays with our Arduino projects. We’ll also build an OLED Temperature and Humidity Meter. They come in all sizes, from huge wall-sized OLED televisions to thumbnail-sized status displays. Today we will work with three small OLED displays: - A 128x32 monochrome display that uses I2C - A 128x64 dual-color display that also uses I2C - A Waveshare 1.5 inch 128x128 monochrome display that can use either I2C or SPI I’ll explain how an OLED differs from a regular LED and how it is ‘organic”. It doesn’t have anything to do with growing OLEDs without pesticides! Next, we’ll look at some I2C OLEDs and experiment with them, using some excellent libraries from Adafruit. After that, we will look at a very nice OLED display from Waveshare. It’s the largest display we’ll examine today and it can be used with either I2C or SPI. I will demo it in SPI mode using the demo code provided by Waveshare. The example sketches provided with the libraries do a nice job of showing off the display's capabilities but they can be a little overwhelming to reverse-engineer for your own scripts. So to help I‘ve put together a very simple project to display simple text on the display, you can use it as the basis for your own Arduino OLED display projects. The project is a temperature and humidity meter that uses the 128 x 64 dual-color OLED as a display. It uses an I2C temperature and humidity sensor so the wiring is super-easy. I'll go over the code for that in detail so you can see how it writes values to the OLED display. DIY Arduino Analog style Stereo VU meter on I2C Oled displays


This time I will show you how to make analog-style stereo VU meters on small 0.96 inch OLED displays. Some time ago I received small yellow OLED displays that are ideal for this purpose. The device is made according to the instructions of "stevenart" in the arduino.cc forum where you can also find the original code(for SH1106 Oled). Specifically in this case the codes are slightly modified(SSD1306 Oled), and in the hardware, part is added a simple input circuit (envelope follower) so that the VU meter can be connected directly to the output of the audio amplifier. The device is very simple to build and contains only a few components. As can be seen, the VU meter contains two identical assemblies for each channel separately. It can be made with just one Arduino, but in that case, OLED displays must have different I2C addresses. My OLED displays had the same I2C address, so I had to make two identical devices, which cost only a few dollars more as much as the Arduino. However, it is better if you are able to get Oled displays with different addresses, or if there is a possibility, to change the address of one display with soldering according to some of the instructions given online. Below are codes for VU meters with linear scale and arc scale. For Reverse light modification it is necessary to do the following: In viod setup after : display.clearDisplay(); We need to add : display.invertDisplay(true); So the components of one channel are: - Arduino Microcontroller - SSD1306 small Oled display 0.96" - two resistors - one capacitor - And potentiometer The other channel is identical. Let me mention that the movement of the arrows is smooth when viewed live. Finally, the device is mounted in a suitable box made of PVC material and lined with self-adhesive colored wallpaper. OLED 1.54" SPD0301: Convert from SPI to I2C


In this video I show the changes necessary to interface an 1.54" OLED display from SPI to IIC. You should know how to handle a soldering iron as there have to be changes made to the PCB. For testing, this OLED display was connected to a Raspberry Pi 3B+ using Python 3. Any code developed for the 0.96" display (using the SSD1306 IC) should work. In this video, I used a simple demo from Github (🤍 Make sure to change the code to the correct IIC-address - the 1.54" OLED reacts on "3D" (while the 0.96" OLED code uses "3C"). I haven't tested the display on Arduino, but it should just run as fine! Looking forward to your comments. And remember: Don't complain about my English ... it's EitherThatOrGerman!
